Owner of Saf-T-Swim Honoree at Third Annual Butterfly Auction

November 01, 2006

Commack, NY)&The Marcie Mazzola Foundation honored Miller Place resident, James Hazen, President and Owner of Saf-T-Swim at the Third Annual Butterfly Auction, held in the Fall of 2006 at The Westbury Manor.

The Foundation was established as a tribute to Marcie who lost her life in a car accident in 2002. While only 21 years old when she died, Marcie's compassionate and loving nature had drawn her to those who needed help, especially children. The Marcie Mazzola Foundation's mission is to continue Marcie's commitment to children and to specifically "help better the lives of abused and at-risk children; and increase community awareness about the needs of children."

Jim Hazen was chosen as the 2006 Honoree because throughout his life he has exhibited the same passion for protecting children that Marcie did.  He is an outstanding citizen and community leader and is currently serving his second term as vice-president elect of the National and International Swim School Organization.

The 2006 beneficiaries of the Butterfly Auction were the EAC Suffolk County Child Advocacy Center in Central Islip, the Huntington YMCA Summer Camp Program, The Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk (VIBS), The Smile Train, and the Rose Brucia Educational Foundation.
