Marcie Mazzola Foundation Donates $25,000 to EAC

October 13, 2006

The Marcie Mazzola Foundation made a $25,000 major gift commitment to EAC's Suffolk County Child Advocacy Center (CAC) at the Pat & Mary Bagnato Place for Kids. This donation is in support of a capital expansion project that will serve the children in Suffolk County who are victims of sexual abuse.  The CACs Childrens Miracle Garden will be named in memory of Marcie Mazzola.  The Foundation was established as a tribute to Marcie who lost her life in a car accident in 2002.

While only 21 years old when she died, Marcie's compassionate and loving nature had drawn her to those who needed help, especially children. The Marcie Mazzola Foundation's mission is to continue Marcie's commitment to children and to specifically "help better the lives of abused and at risk children, and increase community awareness about the needs of children."

The EAC Suffolk Child Advocacy Center (CAC) is a child-friendly environment where child victims of physical and/or sexual abuse are brought to be interviewed and examined. The Center also serves as a resource for children, families and the professional community.

EAC's vision for the Child Advocacy Center is to continually expand its reach and effectiveness to the community by providing the highest quality services to child victims of sexual abuse. In an effort to increase the number of services provided to these victims, EAC is undertaking this capital expansion project.

Since opening its doors at the end of 1997, the CAC has provided services to over 2,220 children who have been sexually and physically abused.
