While only 21 years old when she died, Marcie's compassionate and loving nature had drawn her to those who needed help, especially children. The Marcie Mazzola Foundation's mission is to continue Marcie's commitment to children and to specifically "help better the lives of abused and at risk children, and increase community awareness about the needs of children." The EAC Suffolk Child Advocacy Center (CAC) is a child-friendly environment where child victims of physical and/or sexual abuse are brought to be interviewed and examined. The Center also serves as a resource for children, families and the professional community. EAC's vision for the Child Advocacy Center is to continually expand its reach and effectiveness to the community by providing the highest quality services to child victims of sexual abuse. In an effort to increase the number of services provided to these victims, EAC is undertaking this capital expansion project. Since opening its doors at the end of 1997, the CAC has provided services to over 2,220 children who have been sexually and physically abused. |
